A1 is a pretty exciting room this week!  We are hard at work trying to determine what is wrong with our aquariums and why so many of our fish are dying.  We've also been trying to catch our millipedes when they are above the soil and eating, but we're beginning to realize that these creatures really and truly love the dark- they don't come out much!

Our big work for this week will be to finish preparing for student-led conferences.  Students have gathered samples they want to share with you and they've been thinking about how they have grown in each of the core subject areas.  They are excited to share with you on Thursday!

Thanks for everyone who attended and/or helped with the Art Show, Silent Auction, and Chili Dinner!  We had a great crowd and it was fun to see all of the different art work created by students throughout the year.

Here are upcoming dates that I know of:

April 28th- Student-led Conferences:  Your student should have brought a form home last week telling your specific conference time.  If you did not receive this note or the time does not work for you, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can try to reschedule your student's conference. No school for students on this date.

April 29th- Teacher Work Day, no school for students.

May 2nd- Field Trip to the Fruita Children's Nature Center and Fruita State Park.  This field trip supports our work with organisms and their habitats.  Please be sure your child has a sack lunch (unless you checked the box on the permission form that asks the school cafeteria to provide a lunch for your child), comfortable walking shoes, and appropriate clothing for the day's weather.

May 5th- Field Trip- We will be traveling to Stocker Stadium to cheer for the Special Olympics athletes!  We will be supporting a student from our class as well as two other Broadway students.  Please be sure your child has a sack lunch (unless you checked the box on the permission form that asks the school cafeteria to provide a lunch for your child) and appropriate clothing for the day's weather.

May 12th- Second Grade Animal Expo- Please join us in our classroom from 1-2pm for our animal expo!  Each student is in the process of becoming an expert about a specific animal and its habitat.  Join us on the 12th to learn more about these animals and to see the projects student shave created to share their learning.

May 19th- Last Day of School Extravaganza- Please join us the afternoon of April 19th for a school-wide family picnic and a variety of fun activities.  There will be lots of different activities available for students to participate in including a variety of bump-n-jumps.  A note about the picnic came home earlier this week.  If you'd like to join your child for lunch, please complete this form and return it to school so that the kitchen can order and prepare enough lunches.
